Native Americans had always given thanks, as had the Hebrews millennia ago, and the British with their Harvest Homes. Thank you for this powerful piece. On reflection, I'm scrolling back up to check motivational.Barbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06373994759952500579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8825511530912388870.post-38816942293392820482017-11-28T07:16:01.925-05:002017-11-28T07:16:01.925-05:00I wish I had had the opportunity to be invited int...I wish I had had the opportunity to be invited into your home. No longer do I believe the narrative propagated by Hollywood and primary grade education. But I hung back at the door, watching those within, but not knowing what to say or do.
Now I have returned to my homeland, England, and regret that timidity.

But thank you, original peoples of the US, for sharing (albeit under duress) your beautiful land with us newcomers, and forgive us for taking it and you for granted. When your Thanksgiving table is shared with survivors of Indian Boarding Schools. When nearby canyons, peaks and streets are named after Army officers like Kit Carson, who committed genocidal acts of war so the United States of America could achieve its "Manifest Destiny" of ruling this land from "sea to shining sea." When you are aware that the founding documents of the United States dehumanizes your people as "savages", the myth of Thanksgiving is exposed for the lie that it is.Mark Charleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04210437745178979457noreply@blogger.com
